Filip Krajinovic v Pablo Carreno-Busta Head to Head

The pair have played each other twice before. Krajinovic won their semi-final on the hard courts of Stockholm in 2019, but last year, it was Carreno-Busta who was the victor in the final, on clay, of the Hamburg Open.

Krajinovic Leading from the Front

Krajinovic has assumed leadership of the Serbian team in the absence of Novak Djokovic and he has done his bit for the cause by winning both his matches so far.

However, due t results elsewhere, Serbia need him to step up once more if they are to qualify for the knock-out phases of the Cup which they won in 2020.

The Serbian captain began with a match against the Norwegian number two Viktor Durasovic, the world number 345, two breaks of serve enabling him to cruise through the first set, whilst the odd break in three gave him the second set and the match.

Then he faced Alejandro Tabilo of Chile, the world number 139, and found him a more resolute opponent.

The Serb breezed through the first set for the loss of just one game, but any hopes of an easy victory were dispelled when Tabilo hit back to claim the send.

And, in the third set he went a break down before recovering to lead by a break, Tabilo then levelled the match and took it to a tie-break, where Krajinovic needed four match points to finally seal the win.

Can Carreno-Busta Maintain His 100% Record?

Carreno-Busta has played the same two men in the ATP Cup so far as Krajinovic, except in a different order, beginning with Tabilo first.

The first set of their match was scrappy, but Carreno-Busta won it by virtue of the fact that he dropped his serve fewer times that the Chilean.

A dropped serve early in the second set gave Tabilo a chance, but the Spaniard was soon level and proved the stronger player over the course of the subsequent tie break.

The Durasovic match proved more straightforward, with one break of serve in the first set and two in the second enough to get the job done for the man from Spain.

With his country having assured their progress to the next phase of the competition, the pressure will be off him in this match.

Krajinovic v Carreno-Busta Prediction and Tip

The Serbian team have more need of the win than the Spaniard’s, but there is a handy form guide in that both players have faced the same men in the competition so far. Based on those results, Carreno-Busta may just be tipped to edge this match.
