Alison Riske v Magda Linette Head to Head
The pair have played each other four times before, all on hard courts and Riske has a !00% winning record against Linette, that sequence began with two victories in 2016 in Cincinnati and Tianjin, and that was followed by a win in 2017 in Stanford, and another, the following year, in Miami.

Just over two years ago, Riske was a top twenty player, but she endured a torrid 2021 due to a loss of form, whilst a foot injury also impeded her progress.
However, her season ended on an upbeat note. In Slovenia in September, she reached the final, only to slip to a surprise defeat at the hands of the Italian Jasmine Paolini. Better was to come in Linz, in the last regular event of the season, where she won the title, her first in two years and her third in all.
That helped her improve her world ranking from 73, which is how she started the tournament to 51, the same as she started the year.
Now she will be looking to make further progress in 2022, although her year did not start in the best way. She was beaten in straight sets by the Russian veteran Vera Zvonareva, the world number 81, in the first round of Melbourne last week.

Linette’s First Match of the New Season
Linette was the Polish number one for several years until her achievements were eclipsed by those of compatriot Iga Swiatek.
However, she has achieved success in her own right, appearing in four WTA finals, wining two of them, the Bronx Open in 2019, and the Thailand Open a year later.
A knee injury meant that she started the 2021 season late, but she reached the semi-finals in Strasbourg, and then, the doubles, reached her first Grand Slam semi-final at the French Open.
Linette then pulled off a shock at Wimbledon, knocking out the third seed Elina Svitolina before exiting the tournament at the third-round stage.
This will be her first match since was forced to retire form her second-round match with Victoria Azarenka in Indian Wells in October with an injury
Riske v Linette Prediction and Tip
Although the pair are close in the world rankings, Riske goes into this match with the huge psychological edge of having won all four of their previous encounters. She will back herself to extend that winning run.
