Belinda Bencic v Amanda Anisimova Head to Head

In their sole encounter on the WTA Tour so far, Bencic was the winner. The game took place in the quarterfinal of the 2019 WTA Mallorca, where the Swiss won 6-2, 6-2.

Bencic Starts Comfortably

Belinda Bencic had a good start to her Australian Open campaign, defeating Kristina Mladenovic of France 6-4, 6-3 in 90 minutes. The Swiss looked good for most of the match and didn’t commit far too many unforced errors. She may look to be a bit more aggressive, seeing that she won just 17 winners compared to her rival’s 23.

Needless to say, she will need to bring her A-game against Anisimova.

Bencic is not entirely immune to losing early with most of her last losses coming against the rising, emerging stars on the tour. Case in point, she fell to Paula Badosa in the quarterfinal of Adelaide International last week. Her previous losses (from last season) were against Liudmila Samsonova, Elena Rybakina, and Anett Kontaveit.

Another thing to note is the 24-year-old hasn’t got that great of a track record in Melbourne either. In all of her last eight attempts, the current World No. 22 has made it to the fourth round just twice; in her last three appearances, she was beaten in round three.

Anisimova in Red-Hot Form

Amanda Anisimova is perfectly positioned for a strong resurgence on the WTA Tour. After peaking at #21 in 2019, the American’s form dipped gradually as she reached the mid-70s by the end of last season.

Now, it seems like she is finally back for good and this time, she means serious business. Anisimova won her third singles title this month – the Melbourne Summer Set by upsetting Daria Kasatkina and Aliaksandra Sasnovich en route to the silverware.

On that foundation, she started with a three-set win over Arianne Hartono 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 in the Aus Open 2022.

While she struck more winners (26 vs 15), the 20-year-old committed 39 unforced errors – 16 of which came in the first set. Nonetheless, she recovered well in time and is warmed up for the matches ahead. Anisimova also has an intriguing history in the Slam – she reached the fourth round on her debut in 2019 and lost in the opener the following edition. How far can she go now?

Bencic v Anisimova Prediction and Tip

This is a match that can go either way but the fact that Anisimova is in a much better form right now gives her a slight edge. Plus, she has proven herself capable of punching above her weight.

She is also available at much higher odds, making her a good choice for this match.

Tip: Anisimova to win AND Over 22.5 games in the match: 7/2 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
