Miomir Kecmanovic v Tommy Paul Head to Head

The pair have played each other once before on indoor hard courts in New York two years ago, Kecmanovic winning in straight sets.

Kecmanovic Already a Beneficiary of Djokovic’s Expulsion

It is an ill wind that blows nobody any good and it is Kecmanovic who was the immediate beneficiary of the long draw out saga and final decision that saw the defending champion Novak Djokovic ultimately expelled from Australia.

It meant that rather than face fellow Serb and the world number one in the first round, Kecmanovic had the considerably easier task of playing lucky loser Salvatore Caruso, the world number 146.

He took full advantage of his good fortune with an utterly convincing win, although the first set briefly threatened to get interesting when the Italian cancelled out an early break, only for him to drop his serve immediately once more, and from there the result was not in doubt.

Paul Brushes Aside Qualifier

Paul equally enjoyed the advantage of a favourable first-round draw, this time against the Kazakh qualifier Mikhail Kukushkin, the world number 180, and a comparative veteran on the tour.

Two breaks of serve put the American on top early on and, although one of them was then handed back, he still claimed the first set without too much opposition.

The second set went with serve until the seventh game when Kukushkin was broken once more, Paul consolidating his lead from there.

And when Paul broke twice more at the start of the third set, the match was good as over, and he served out from there.

Kecmanovic v Paul Prediction and Tip

Despite having been beaten in their one previous match, Paul is set to take advantage of the absence of Djokovic from his part of the draw to reach the third round in Melbourne for the second time in his career.
