Alexander Zverev v John Millman Head to Head

There have been two previous meetings between Zverev and Millman, both of which have been won by Zverev.

Interestingly, however, it has been anything but straightforward for Zverev. He was taken to five sets at the 2018 French Open and three sets at bett1Hulks Championships in 2020.

Zverev Made to Work by Altmaier

It was a straight-set win for Zverev in the end but not before Daniel Altmaier had made him stretch a little in their first round encounter at this competition.

Zverev needed two hours and 41 minutes to make it to the second round, overcoming his opponent 7-6 (3), 6-1, 7-6 (1).

After missing four set-points in the first set, Zverev seemed to have got things under control when he raced through the second. However, a break of serve in the third allowed his opponent to get away to a 4-2 lead and with a chance to push it into the fourth.

The German, however, broke back in the eighth game, and then after missing out on three match-points at 6-5, clinched the encounter in the third set tie-breaker.

Can he get back into supreme rhythm given he would give himself a good chance of going the distance if he could?

Millman Finally Manages a Win

Once on the cusp of a top-30 ranking in the world, Millman has fallen to hard times and is now struggling to make direct entries into Grand Slams. Ranked 89th in the world, he did not have the most ideal start to the season either, losing two matches in a row which made it five successive defeats for the Aussie.

He, however, stalled that run with a four-set win in the first round here against Feliciano Lopez, needing two hours and 53 minutes to get to it.

Despite facing 26 aces from Lopez, Millman’s ability to find himself 21 break-points – of which he converted six – helped him register a 6-1, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 victory over his Spaniard opponent.

Can he now put up a valiant fight against the world number three?

Zverev v Millman Prediction and Tip

While Zverev looked a tad out of rhythm in his opener, we expect him to run through his opponent in this second round encounter. Straight-set win for the German.
