Vit Kopriva v Cem Ilkel Head to Head

.The pair have played each other three times before on the Challenger tour.

Ilkel won in Quimper, France in January 2020, but Kopriva avenged that defeat in St. Petersburg 14 months later.

They met again in Bendigo, Australia, four weeks ago, Kopriva winning in straight sets.

Czech Qualifier Kopriva

Kopriva’s biggest claim to fame is a victory over Denis Shapovalov at the Swiss Open last year, just a few weeks after winning his only Challenger title at a doubles event in Milan.

Apart from that his successes have been confined to the ITF Futures circuit, where he has appeared in 14 finals, winning five of them.

His year began by reaching the quarter-final of that Challenger tournament in Bendigo, and then he tried and failed to qualify for the Australian Open, going out in the second qualifying round.

However, he has had better luck in Pune, making the main draw after beating Manesh Surashkumar of India, and then another Turk in the form of Altug Celikbilek.

Ilkel Looking for First Win of 2022

Ilkel has considerably more experience than Kopriva on the junior tours, and has appeared in five singles finals, winning one of them in Quimper, two years ago.

He enjoyed even more success in doubles events, with 13 ITF Futures titles to his name in his earlier career.

The Turk has yet to win a match in 2022. Beaten by Kopriva in the first round in Bendigo, he then did not get beyond the first qualifying round for the Australian Open.

Another first round defeat followed in a Challenger tournament in Italy.

He can consider himself fortunate to have gained direct entry to the main draw in Pune.

Kopriva v Ilkel Prediction and Tip

The fact that the pair met less than a month ago provides a useful form guide. The Czech player won that match and will be the favourite to do so again.
