Top seed Stefanos Tsitsipas found himself troubled by Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the ATP Rotterdam opener. The Greek had to battle for two and a half hours to win the match 7-5, 6-7(1), 6-4. While he doled out 15 aces and won 72% of the first serve points, there were moments when he looked rusty and not as sharp as he ordinarily is.
But that should be of little concern for the current World No. 4, who is off to a superb start this season. Despite retiring early in the ATP Cup with an injury, he came back stronger in the Australian Open where he reached the semifinal.
Tsitisipas ultimately lost to Daniil Medvedev but not before marking his third penultimate round appearance in Melbourne in four years.
Last season, he upped his game even further to reach the top five and end the year with a tally of 55-19 – a career-best for him. His highlights include the runner-up feat in the French Open, Mexican Open, and Barcelona Open, and the title run in Monte-Carlo Masters.
The 23-year-old is in the prime of his form at the moment and has already established himself as one of the most formidable players on the circuit.

Ivashka Subdues Harris with Ease
By contrast, Ilya Ivashka had a relatively comfortable start in the tournament as he took down Llyod Harris with 6-2, 6-3.
The World No. 48 will hope to deliver a similar result against Tsitisipas, but that is a tall order to deliver. So far in 2022, the Belarusian has played only in one tournament – ATP Montpellier where he lost to Mackenzie McDonald in the first round.
Looking at his form last season, it was a fairly decent one as he moved up into the top 50 all way from the early 100s. His tally for the year was 31-16 and he won his first singles title at the Winston-Salem Open.
With that, Ivashka also reached the semifinal in a few other events like ATP Munich and Nur-Sultan. He also reached the mid-rounds in the Wimbledon and US Open.
Tsitsipas v Ivashka Prediction and Tip
Given Tsitsipas’s rocky start, there is a possibility that he may be troubled by Ivashka too. After all, the latter has been in a good form overall and can very well put up a good fight.
It wouldn’t be surprising if this goes to three sets.
