Tallon Griekspoor v Lucas Pouille Head to Head

The pair have never played each other before. This will be the first man between the 25-year old Dutchman, and the French wildcard, who is two years older.

Griekspoor’s Star on the Rise

Griekspoor’s star is very much on the rise after he became the first man to appear in eight finals on the Challenger Tour in 2021 and win them all.

Now his ambition is to translate that form to the senior tour.

He made a good start reaching the quarter-final in Sydney before having to pull out of his match with Rafael Nadal with injury.

The Dutch player reached the second round of the Australian Open for the first time, before losing to Pablo Carreno-Busta in five sets, but would have been disappointed to lose in the first round in Montpellier to the eventual winner, Alexander Bublik.

Last week in Rotterdam he delighted the Dutch crowd by coming from behind to beat the Russian number seven seed, Aslan Karatsev, but then lost to the Hungarian Marton Fucsovics, the world number 38, in two close sets.

Pouille Struggling to Rediscover Past Form

Pouille was a top ten player less than four years ago and a Grand Slam semi-finalist, but he missed more than a year of action after right elbow surgery, and he has never been able to recapture past glories.

Having been the recipient of a wild card for the Australia Open, he travelled Down Under with hope, but lost all three matches he played on Australian soil – beaten in the first round of qualifying for the Melbourne Summer Set, and Sydney, and then in the opening round of the Grand Slam itself.

He did finally get his season off the mark by winning his first round match in the Quimper Challenger event, but has lost his three matches since, including in the first round in Montpellier.

Pouille is the recipient of a wildcard in Marseille.

Griekspoor v Pouille Prediction and Tip

These two men are at completely different ends of the spectrum, Griekspoor looking up, whilst Pouille sees himself slide increasingly far down the rankings.

He may be playing on home soil, but it is difficult to make a case for Pouille in this match otherwise.

Tip: Griekspoor to win: 4/9 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
