Andrey Rublev v Richard Gasquet Head to Head
Rublev and Gasquet have not played each although they were scheduled to meet in the Round of 16 at the Qatar Open last season. However, Gasquet withdrew prior to the match, handing Rublev a walkover.

Andrey Rublev’s reign in Rotterdam came to a juddering halt after the Russian power-hitter fell short in his bid to land back-to-back titles in the Netherlands’ second city.
Rublev was beaten by Felix Auger-Aliassime in three sets in the semifinals last week before the Canadian went on to take his maiden title with victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final.
Defeat also meant that Rublev has not successfully defended an ATP title in his career. And in an effort to overcome the disappointment, Rublev has elected to play another indoor hard court tournament instead of jetting to the Middle East.
The 24-year-old will make his third visit to Marseille as he pursues his first title of the year. The Russian has endured a mixed start in 2022, required to isolate on arrival to Australia after testing positive for coronavirus. That forced Rublev to skip the two warm-up tournaments before the year’s first Major.
Rublev will be playing in just his third tournament of 2022.

Gasquet Defeats In Their Montpellier Rematch
Richard Gasquet did not have to wait long to banish the memories of a frustrating three-set loss to Mikael Ymer in Montpellier at the start of February. The two were set for a rematch in Marseille, a tournament Gasquet knows all too well like the palm of his hand.
The 35-year-old French veteran had his foot on the accelerator for nearly the whole match this time. He broke Ymer once in a tightly contested first set.
But the Swede managed to nudge ahead in the second set when the Frenchman endured an error-strewn game to get broken to love. Ymer’s lead did not last long as Gasquet saved a set point to restore parity.
The young Ymer could not conceal his discontentment as another costly service break meant that Gasquet had a straight ticket to the second round.
Rublev v Gasquet Prediction and Tip
I struggle to see how Gasquet can win this match. Rublev is going to overpower him from baseline rallies. And there is not a market suitable for the Frenchman. Expect the second seed to cruise into the second round.
