Veronika Kudermetova v Garbine Muguruza Head to Head
Kudermetova and Muguruza played three times overall and the Spaniard was able to win all three matches. All were played on hard and two of those came last year. In Tokyo, Muguruza won 7-5 7-5 and in Doha 6-2 7-6(2).

Veronika Kudermetova plays her best tennis on hard courts and this season she has been especially dangerous, even for the top players. Belinda Bencic barely defeated her in St. Petersburg last week and Muguruza will have her work cut out.
The Russian player has a 7-3 record on the year and she demolished Victoria Azarenka in the first round. It was a continuation of the level shown last week and she will fancy her chances tomorrow. Solid serving and confident play from the baseline create a lot of trouble for her opponetns.
SHe will need to be very consistent against Muguruza as the Spaniard can defend like very few can. However, her match against Siniakova demonstrated that in Dubai you can outhit her but you need to have consistency. Siniakova failed in doing that but Kudermetova is far more consistent and is currently playing really well.

Muguruza Struggling with Confidence
Muguruza finished off 2021 with a brilliant run in Guadalajara to win the WTA Finals but that has not translated in 2022. Performances in Australia have been rather poor and her first-round match against Siniakova here leave a lot to be desired.
Muguruza is clearly struggling with her confidence as she doesn’t trust her play as she did in Guadalajara. Comparing the performances from that even and so far in 202 is night and day and the Spaniard will need to find a way to build it up again.
A strong performance against Kudermetova might just be the spark she needs but it will be very tough. She will be favoured as she has a 3-0 H2H record against the Russian but Kudermetova is playing far better at the moment and that could be too hard to overcome.
Kudermetova v Muguruza Prediction and Tip
Muguruza dominated this matchup so far winning all their matches. All of them were rather close which means that Kudermetova has the tools to trouble Muguruza but it never really clicked. A good chance will be tomorrow as the Russian is playing some of the best tennis she has played recently.
Strong serving and confidence play from the baseline is exactly what she needs to beat an unsure Mugurza who is the better player albeit lacking confidence at the moment. Consistency will be a struggle for Kudermetova as she lost against Bencic last week simply because she could not keep up the high level.
She looked very comfortable against Azarenka which leads me to believe that she might have figured it out. I do think she will beat Muguruza but I’m not sure she will do it in two. A 3-setter would favour Muguruza in the decider which is why I will back Kudermetova to do it in two.
