Stefanos Tsitsipas is one of the most decorated players in the history of the Marseille Open. Tsitsipas has won two titles at this event and finished in the quarterfinals last season.
It will be his sixth visit to Marseille this year and his eyes are firmly on the prize. But the Greek star will have a battle on his hands to land his third title on these shores. The draw has not been kind for Tsitsipas despite pitting second seed Andrey Rublev on the opposite side.
Tsitsipas is projected to meet his Rotterdam final conqueror Felix Auger-Aliassime in the quarterfinals this week. The Canadian won his first ATP title a few days ago and will be under less pressure to perform. That could make him even more dangerous should the projected last-eight meeting materialize.
The World No. 4 looks to have recovered from the elbow surgery that nearly cost him his participation in the first quarter of the season. And right now, the Greek has reiterated he is playing injury-free.

Gaston Stuns Moutet To Advance
Hugo Gaston has warmed up nicely for his meeting with Stefanos Tsitsipas for the first time on Thursday. Gaston defeated countryman Corentin Moutet 6-4 6-4 in the first round.
The dropshot artiste disrupted Moutet’s rhythm and caught him off balance with his trademark drop shots. He won 71% first-serve points and broke his compatriot four times from nine opportunities.
Gaston is yet to advance past the Round of 16 in Marseille, but he is usually tough to beat on home soil. Last year he reached the quarterfinals of the Paris Masters as a qualifier, upsetting the likes of Pablo Carreno Busta and Carlos Alcaraz, and nearly taking a set off Daniil Medvedev.
It will be interesting to see whether Gaston draws upon that energy from the home support when he takes on the top-seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Tsitsipas v Gaston Prediction and Tip
Tsitsipas produced a subpar performance in the final of Rotterdam and will be keen to forget about that no-show. I expect him to get into the groove in his first match in Marseille.
