Vera Zvonareva v Alison van Uytvanck Head to Head

The pair have played each other twice before, at the Hungarian Open in 2019, and the Limoges Open last year, van Uytvanck winning both matches in straight sets.

Veteran Zvonareva Earns Wildcard

Zvonareva is now one of the veterans of the WTA tour, and is into her third decade as a professional.

Her long career has seen her win 12 senior titles and she has twice been a runner-up in Grand Slams, but her last final was back in 2011.

Since losing to van Uytvanck in Limoges last December, she has won just one match, and that was in the first round of the Melbourne Summer St, where she beat the American Alison Riske.

Since then, her record reads played four, lost four, with first round defeats at the Australian Open, in St. Petersburg, and then, last week in Dubai, where she was also given a wildcard, although she did, at least, take a set of Ons Jabeur.

Out of Form van Uytvanck

Uytvanck won her fifth title in all, and her first for more than two years, in October at the Astana Open in Kazakhstan.

The following month she won a Challenger event in France, but she has yet to translate that form into results in 2022.

She began her year in Melbourne, playing in the Summer Set event, but was beaten in the first round by Amanda Anisimova of the USA.

The Belgian then failed to qualify for Adelaide, and then was beaten in the second round of the Australian Open by Qiang Wang of China, despite winning the first set.

There was more disappointment in her last match at the St. Petersburg Open, where she again squandered a first set lead, and lost her opening round match to the Slovenian, Kaja Juvan.

Zvonareva v van Uytvanck Prediction and Tip

Van Uytvanck has won both their two previous matches, and there is little evidence to suggest that the result will be any different this time. It should give the Belgian a much-needed confidence boost.
