Lloyd Harris v Boric van de Zandschulp Head to Head

The pair have never played each other before. This will be the first match between the South African, who is 24, and his Dutch opponent, two years older.

Harris Beaten Finalist Last Year

Last year Harris reached the final in Dubai, one of the highlights of a year that also saw him reach the last eight of the US Open, and the semi-finals in Antwerp.

That tournament was the last time he won a match on tour, and his record since then is played five lost five, including all four matches he has contested this year.

In fact, the only time he has even won a set in that sequence was in the course of first round defeats in Adelaide and at the Australian Open.

He will be hoping that Dubai can inspire some sort of renaissance.

Van de Zandschulp Looking to Consolidate

Van de Zandschulp is looking to consolidate on what he achieved in 2021, when he broke into the world’s top 100, and reached the quarter-finals of the US Open as a qualifier.

He had a reasonable Australian campaign, reaching the quarter-final of the Melbourne Summer Set event, and then getting to the third round of the Australian Open for the first time.

Since returning from there, results have been more mixed. He reached the second round of his home event in Rotterdam, but was beaten by a qualifier, and then, last week, reached the same stage in Doha, before he was beaten in straight sets by Marin Cilic.

Harris v Van de Zandschulp Prediction and Tip

Although the lower ranked of the pair, given the poor run the South African is currently on, van de Zandschulp will be favoured to make the second round.
