Roberto Bautista Agut v Arthur Rinderknech Head to Head

These two players played once before and it came last year in Gstaad where Rinderknech easily won 6-2 6-4.

Title Celebrations for Roberto Bautista Agut

The last time Roberto Bautista Agut lifted a trophy before last week came in 2019 and ever since then the Spaniard wondered when he would be living a trophy again. Well, it happened this week as the Spaniard took down Nikoloz Basilashvili in the Doha final. They played in the 2021 fina las well but that time the Georgian proved better.

It was a great week for the Spaniard who thrives in the conditions in the Persian Gulf. It was not an easy week but he overcame adversity to secure himself a trophy for the first time since 2019. He played well and he hopes that that translated to Dubai. There will be some fatigue in play which will make it important for him to keep matches short.

Generally, he played much better in Doha than in Dubai and I think he might have similar trouble this year. Playing events back to back is very taxing on the body and he might be a bit fatigued. He had his struggles against Rinderknech in the past and the Frenchman will be ready for an upset.

Top 50 in Sight for Rinderknech

Arthur Rinderknech was firmly outside of the top 100 for the start of last year. Since then the big-serving Frenchman has played a very solid style of tennis that slowly but surely pushed him all the way to the top 50. He is yet to make his debut inside of it but a good run in Dubai could give him the chance to do that.

Rinderknech is coming off of a solid outing in Doha where he lost to Nikoloz Basilashvili quite easily. The Frenchman will find the conditions in Dubai a bit more suitable for his game as his big serve will be more useful. The Frenchman has a lot of confidence right now and already won 9 matches this year.

If he plays a very good match he might pull an upset against Bautista Agut who has had a long week in Doha. It will come down to doing some of the things he did last year in Gstaad where his serve completely destroyed Bautista. Dubai is not as high as Gstaad and is on a different surface but the key will be the serve once again.

Bautista Agut v Rinderknech Prediction and Tip

This s a very interesting matchup because of several things. Roberto Bautista Agut loves to play the Persian Gulf but his title run in Doha might give him trouble playing his best tennis. Fatigue will be a factor despite the Spaniard having 2 days off between the matches.

He struggled against Rinderknech in their previous matchup mostly because he had a very hard time controlling the big serve of the Frenchman. Dubai won’t help him with that and if the Frenchman feels confident enough he might just pull off the upset.

Even so, the Spaniard is the better player and if he has enough energy in the tank he might be able to pull it off. If you are feeling risky you could try the upset on Rinderknech but I definitely think this will be a close match. I don’t see an easy with for either player which could make the over a solid option.
