Cori Gauff v Shelby Rogers Head to Head
Gauff leads Rogers 1-0, last beating her compatriot in the 2021 Adelaide 500 last season in three sets.

Cori Gauff has had an uneventful campaign in 2022 so far. Barring her semifinal stint in Adelaide 2, the 17-year-old is yet to win multiple matches in a single tournament.
She is now on a two-match losing streak spread across the Melbourne Slam and Dubai Championships. Both those losses came respectively to Qiang Wang and Jessica Pegula.
Following her breakthrough season in 2021, Gauff hasn’t quite managed to carry the same momentum forward. Last year, the World No. 23 was a quarterfinalist in the French Open, WTA Dubai, and the Canadian Open. She also won the title in Emilia-Romagna and reached the semis in Rome.
Clearly, the teenager has got a lot of potential and has razed through opponents without any major difficulties. Having achieved so much in so little time, there is no doubt that Gauff can find her form again. The only question is will it be against Rogers?

Rogers in a Similar Rut
Shelby Rogers is also seeking reprieve in Doha, having had an uneventful spell on the Australian hard courts. While she reached the quarters in Adelaide 1 after upsetting Maria Sakkari, the 29-year-old lost in the early rounds in Adelaide 2 and Melbourne.
That said, she managed to reach the #36 spot in January – her career-best ranking and will now hope to go further.
Rogers enjoyed a good spell in 2021 and has certainly made her case to be taken seriously on the tour. While her season was devoid of titles, she did beat many top 50 players and made it to the quarterfinal four times. Rogers also had a decent run in the majors, reaching the round of 16 in Melbourne and New York, and the round of 32 in Paris.
Gauff v Rogers Prediction and Tip
Given the shaky form of the two players, this one is too close to call. Rogers has the experience (not that it matters much for Gauff) but her lack of momentum doesn’t bode well for her.
At the very least, we’re possibly looking at a long, well-fought match.
