Barbora Krejcikova v Magda Linette Head to Head

Magda Linette had a marathon match in the Qatar Open first round, facing the American Alison Riske. She needed a little over two hours to win the match 2-6, 7-6(5), 6-1.
With this win, Linette has improved her record in Doha to 1-2. In her last two appearances here in 2016 and 2020, she was downed in the opening matches.
This result also marks only the second time this season that the No. 67-ranked Pole has reached the second round in a WTA event. Her last such stint came in the Australian Open where she defeated Anastasija Sevastova in the opener, only to lose to Daria Kasatkina in the following match.
Linette arrived in Doha following a qualifying exit in Dubai last week albeit, it was due to her retiring from the match against Maryna Zanevksa.
The 30-year-old is not among the most consistent players on the tour but she has had her moments in the past. Last season, she reached the third round in two of the four majors and made it to the semifinal in Cleveland and Strasbourg.

Krejcikova, at the Peak of her Form
Reigning French Open champion Barbora Krejcikova has been absolutely dominating on the WTA Tour. She is the singles World No. 3 and doubles World No. 2 – a feat that speaks scores about her abilities and form.
She started the season with a runner-up feat in Sydney and followed it with a quarterfinal run in the Australian Open. So far in 2022, she has already beaten the likes of Anett Kontaveit, Jelena Ostapenko, and Victoria Azarenka.
However, in the Dubai Tennis Championships, Krejcikova was handed a rare defeat by the then ranked #146 Dayana Yastremska in three sets. Nonetheless, the number two seed remains a heavy favourite in Doha.

Anything but a straight-set win would be simply unacceptable from Krejcikova. She has a far superior pedigree and is in a much better form than Linette and should win this one comfortably.
