Jil Teichmann v Alison van Uytvanck Head to Head
While they have never faced off at the highest level before this, Teichmann has won in their only previous meeting on the ITF circuit in a tournament played on clay in 2017.

After making a less than impressive start to the season with just one win from four matches, Teichmann looked to have continued in the same vein when she fell in the qualifiers at Dubai last week.
However, making it through to the main draw as a lucky loser, Teichmann looked to have discovered a bit of her mojo with back to back shock wins there. She defeated Elise Mertens and Elina Svitolina to make it to the quarterfinals before falling to the eventual finalist Veronika Kudermetova.
Teichmann looks to have continued with that confidence, as she came back from a set down in her opener here to banish Angelique Kerber in three.
The Swiss player won 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 in a match lasting two hours and 11 minutes and will now be a favourite to make it a fourth win in five matches.

Rare Win for van Uytvanck
In her fifth tournament of the season, van Uytvanck only registered her second main draw win here when she defeated Vera Zvonareva in the opener.
The Belgian was on court for nearly two hours to make it through but in the end, it was a straight-set win. Van Uytvanck came through 6-4, 6-4 to make it to the second round.
An exchange of breaks early in the first set was followed by van Uytvanck carving out a decisive break in the seventh game that helped her clinch the opening set. Something similar happened in the second as well, but when van Uytvanck broke her opponent off her fourth break-point of the ninth game, it was all over bar the shouting.
Earlier, van Uytvanck had made the second round at Australian Open as her only previous main draw victory for the season.
