Seeded No. 7 in this year’s edition she received a first round bye and will be opening against an opponent who beat her in their only meeting. Swiatek, who won two titles during a 36-15 season last year, will be hoping to get her revenge over the Swiss on Tuesday.

Golubic Ousts Petkovic
World No. 36 Viktorija Golubic entered the second round following a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Germany’s Andrea Petkovic.
The match began with seven consecutive breaks of serve before Golubic finally held serve for the first time in the eighth game to take a 5-3 lead. The 29-year-old held on to the lead to seal the first set in 49 minutes.
The second set saw both players improve their service games, with neither getting broken in the first eight games. The Swiss eventually broke in the ninth game and then served out the match for a 6-4, 6-4 victory in an hour and 39 minutes.
Playing in the main draw in Doha for the first time, Golubic had a 2-3 record in the main draws before the start of the tournament. She was a quarterfinalist in Melbourne, but lost in the opening rounds in Adelaide 2 and the Australian Open. She ended a three-match losing streak in the main draw on Monday.
