Albert Ramos Vinolas v Carlos Taberner Head to Head

There have been no previous meetings at the highest level between these two players. They did play in an exhibition competition in 2020 and Taberner had managed to clinch that one.

Ramos Vinolas Looking to Overturn Recent Form

Ramos Vinolas is one of the few players on tour who has already won a title this season. He did so when he lifted the Cordoba Open trophy earlier this month but since then his form has been flagging.

Shuttling across from Cordoba to Buenos Aires in a matter of a day, he was sent packing in the very first round by Thiago Monteiro there.

And while he did have bit of a break going into the Rio Open the following week, all he managed was a second round defeat in that competition. After defeating Juan Ignacio Londero, Ramos Vinolas fell in three sets to Pablo Andujar in the second.

The world number 31, however, has shown enough pedigree on clay to suggest he can turn things around quickly and this would be a good chance to test that out. Especially against a player who has never been ranked better than 93rd in the world.

Taberner’s Won Just Two Main Draw Matches

This is Taberner’s fifth tournament of the season and he has won just two main draw matches including one in this very competition on Tuesday.

Coming into his first round match here on the back of successive defeats, he overpowered Juan Cerundolo in straight sets to set up this meeting with Ramos Vinolas.

The 108th-ranked player was on court for two hours and eight minutes but a 6-2, 7-5 victory against someone ranked nearly 30 places ahead of him should keep him in a good stead.

The question now is if he can test the fellow Spaniard, who has had a few issues in the last couple of weeks but is a much higher quality player on this surface.

Ramos Vinolas v Taberner Prediction and Tip

This shouldn’t be much of a problem for Ramos Vinolas as he looks to ease to a straight-set win and get into some of his rhythm.

Tip: Ramos Vinolas to win in straight sets: 11/8 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
