Emma Raducanu v Caroline Garcia Head to Head

Raducanu and Garcia have never faced one another.

Struggles Mounting for Emma Raducanu

Emma Raducanu did not open the 2022 year the way she wanted to. While off the court, she keeps winning with more and more endorsements, on the court, it’s been a desert when it comes to wins.

Things have not been easy for the teen sensation, with COVID at the start of the year, physical troubles following COVID, a weak Australian swing with injury concerns in her return in Mexico.

Raducanu is 1-3 on the year winning only against Sloane Stephens in Melbourn, a win that is not particularly impressive when put in perspective. The Brit played a very long match in Guadalajara which left her with some injury concerns and the event in doubt. She received but it remains to be seen how she deals with the conditions here.

Playing in tough weather is not something Raducanu has done often and last year in Indian Wells she did not handle it well. Garcia as an opponent is a tricky one and the French player has certainly shown more recently. Expect this to be a very tough one for Emma.

Good Tennis from Garcia

Caroline Garcia is a couple of years removed from playing the best tennis of her career. Tennis, that firmly placed her inside the top 10 while also winning her two WTA 1000 trophies. While not there yet, Garcia has shown a lot of improvement recently playing with some confidence.

The French player is 7-6 on the year but her level has slowly improved since the start of the year. A win over Simona Halep in Doha, then a good fight against Coco Gauff, then a semifinal run in Lyon are all things that will help Garcia move forward.

She is playing consistent and she is playing confident. It’s the best she has looked in quite a while and Raducanu will present a perfect opportunity for her to get a huge win. Her win against Yastremska in R1 proved she is still feeling herself and that will make her dangerous.

Raducanu v Garcia Prediction and Tip

Caroline Garcia has shown better tennis his year and it’s not even close. She has played more matches and generally seems to be more match-ready as Raducanu seems to have trouble if matches get long. With the conditions in Indian Wells, it’s quite possible that this match ends up being a 3-setter and Raducanu does not do well in those.

She has also shown a rather low level of consistency this year with her tennis being superb at times and quite bad other times. That sort of thing will get her in trouble against the very solid Garcia lately. The French player has been quite solid in the past month especially so expect a good effort from her.

There is a chance that Raducanu has a strong showing which would easily best Garcia’s best at the moment but I just don’t see it happening. There are too many red flags for me and I think Garcia will win this comfortably.
