Irina-Camelia Begu v Katerina Siniakova Head to Head

It is 2-1 to Siniakova with all three of those matches taking place in 2015. Siniakova won their last meeting in Prague in straight sets.

Siniakova, Struggling with Form

World No. 55 Katerina Siniakova hasn’t had the best of the starts to the season – at least in the singles discipline. She has lost her first-round match in four of the five tournaments this season – including the Qatar Open and the Australian Open.

In Dubai, it was the same story although, Siniakova cleared the three matches in the qualifiers to take on Garbine Muguruza.

In the BNP Paribas Open, the 25-year-old Czech earned a direct entry into the main draw. Her best showing in the event came in 2017 when she reached the third round.

On the doubles side of things, however, the No. 1 ranked Siniakova has been absolutely killing it. She won the Melbourne Set and Aus Open doubles – respectively with Bernarda Pera and Barbora Krejcikova. Last year, she won the Tokyo Olympics and WTA Finals with Krejcikova (in addition to a few more titles) to maintain her superiority.

Begu Hoping to Find her Groove

Irina-Camelia Begu is on a two-match losing streak stretching across the opening rounds in Doha and Dubai. Admittedly, the Romanian wasn’t handed the easiest of the opponents in Dayana Yastremska and Petra Kvitova.

At the start of the season, however, she was in a much better groove with a quarterfinal run in Melbourne 2 (defeating Jessica Pegula and Jasmine Paolini) and a semifinal stint in St. Petersburg.

Admittedly, Begu is not among the most consistent performers on the tour and is prone to losing in the opening stages. However, she did clinch her first singles final last year in Cleveland, in over four years. Rich in experience, she is capable of pulling a punch or two.

Siniakova v Begu Prediction and Tip

This match can just as likely swing either way but Siniakova, given her superior doubles pedigree and a relatively better singles form, should do well to surpass Begu and reach the second round.

Tip: Siniakova to win: 4/7 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
