Kecmanovic In Solid Form

Serbia’s Miaomir Kecmanovic has displayed solid form this year, going deep in tournaments consistently.

The 22-year-old is 9-5 for the season and that includes two quarterfinal finishes in Rio and Santiago, both clay court events, and a Round of 16 finish at the Australian Open, his best-ever Grand Slam showing.

The World No. 61, who won his only ATP title in Kitzbuhel in 2020, has happy memories at Indian Wells, having gone from qualifiers to quarterfinals on his debut in 2019. In his second appearance last year, the Serb fell to Alexei Popyrin in the first round in straight sets.

Kecmanovic will be making the transition from clay to hard, so he may face a few challenges early on, but with a 4-2 record on hard courts this year and a decent overall record of 41-45 on the surface, he would back himself to start well.

Broady Comes Through Qualifiers

Britain’s Liam Broady brushed aside Australia’s Christopher O’Connell 7-6, 6-0 in the second qualifying round on Thursday and moved into the main draw of the Indian Wells Open for the first time in his career.

The 28-year-old left-hander had beaten India’s Ramkumar Ramanathan 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 in the first qualifying round on Wednesday.

Broady is 9-0 in qualifiers this year, having also won all the qualifying rounds at the Australian Open, Dallas Open and the Delray Beach Open this year. But the Briton has a 1-3 record in the main draws. Broady’s only main draw win this year came over Peter Gojowczyk, beating the German in straight sets.

Currently ranked No. 124, Broady had peaked to a career-high ranking of 116 last month. He will be looking for some good performances to make a top 100 debut soon.

Kecmanovic v Broady Prediction and Tip
