Naomi Osaka v Astra Sharma Head to Head

Returning to competitive tennis this year following an underwhelming season in 2021, Osaka is yet to enjoy the kind of success she is typically used to otherwise.
A retirement in the semifinal of her first tournament at the Melbourne Summer Set 1 was followed by a shock third round loss at the hands of Amanda Anisimova at Australian Open.
Osaka had gone into that encounter at 2/5 favourite and was up a set before Anisimova came storming back to claim the win.
And two weeks ago, in Indian Wells, Osaka scratched through to a three-set victory against Sloane Stephens before falling in the second round to Veronika Kudermetova. That 6-0, 6-4 defeat would have stung the former world number one and it would be interesting to see how she recovers from it.

Sharma’s Made a Poor Start
In the five tournaments that Sharma played in the lead-up to Indian Wells Open two weeks ago, Sharma had failed to win a single main draw match this season.
In fact, after losing her openers in three of those in Australia, Sharma failed to qualify for the WTA competitions in Dubai and Doha. Losses to Kirsten Flipkens and Madison Brengle in the qualifiers would have hurt.
Sharma finally won her first match of the season in Indian Wells when, as a lucky loser, the 17/10 underdog registered a straight-set victory over Magda Linette in her opener.
That she lost to Victoria Azarenka in the second came as no surprise but the bit of fight she put up against the Belarusian would have given her some confidence. Can she use that to test another world number one here?
Osaka v Sharma Prediction and Tip
While Osaka should have no worries here and register a straight-set win, Sharma could push her in one of the two sets close to a tie-breaker.
