Ekaterina Alexandrova v Jasmine Paolini Head to Head
The pair have played each other once before, in an event on the junior tour in Slovakia six years ago, Alexandrova winning in straight sets.

Like all Russian and Belarussian players, Alexandrova is competing under a neutral flag in Miami, although the WTA is not prepared to follow the example of sporting bodies like FIFA and World Athletics and ban them completely from international competitions.
Two years ago she won her maiden WTA title in Shenzhen, and last February, lost in the final of the Kremlin Cup. The following month she reached the third round in Miami, emulating her best performance in a WTA 1000 tournament.
Results so far in 2022 have not matched that level of performance, with a string of first and second round defeats to her name.
That was the case in Indian Wells, where she beat an American wildcard in the first round, but then was beaten by Simona Halep, although she did take the Romanian to three sets.

Paolini Makes Main Draw Debut in Miami
This will be the first time that Paolini, who is now the Italian number one, has appeared in the main draw in Miami.
In fact, she has little experience in playing in major tournaments, and has never been beyond the second round of a Grand Slam.
However, after achieving a career breakthrough by winning her first senior title at the Slovenian Open last year, she is close to an all-time high ranking, and can take heart from her performances in Indian Wells, where she beat Katie Boulter of Great Britain, before claiming the highly prized scalp of Arnya Sabalenka, the world number five.
She lost to Viktorija Golubic of Switzerland in the third round, the world number 42, but it was a close match only decided by a third set tie-break.
Alexandrova v Paolini Prediction and Tip
Although Alexandrova won their only previous match, that was some time ago, and Paolini is a much improved player since then. If she can replicate the form she showed in Indian Wells, she should win this match.
