Laslo Djere v Jiri Lehecka Head to Head

The pair have never played each other before. This will be the first match between the 26-year-old Serb, and the Czech player, six years his junior.

Djere Happy to be Back on Clay

Djere will be glad to be back on his favoured surface of clay again – all three of his senior ATP finals, and 22 at the Challenger level have come on that surface, and it is where he feels most at home.

It also offers the Serb to find some much needed form after what has been a difficult season so far.

His best result came at Adelaide at the start of January, when he reached the last eight. Since then though, it has been a string of early defeats, including his two matches on the South American clay court swing, beaten first time out in both Buenos Aires and Rio.

He did snap that losing sequence by winning his first round match in Indian Wells, defeating the South Korean Soon-woo Kwon in three sets, but Jannik Sinner ended his interest in that tournament, and he was beaten in the first round in Miami by Arthur Rinderknech.

Rotterdam Semi-Finalist Lehecka

Lehecka has spent the majority of his fledgling career on the Challenger Tour, reaching seven finals of various sorts in 2021, winning four of them, with three of those successes coming on clay.

He made the main draw of the Australian Open after coming through qualifying but lost in the first round. However, in Rotterdam, where he again had to qualify, he beat Denis Shapovalov for his first ATP tour win. Further victories came against Boric van de Zandschulp and Lorenzo Musetti, and he became the lowest ranked semi-finalist in that event for 27 years.

The Czech has struggled to match that performance since then – although he did reach the quarter-final of a Challenger event on clay in Santiago.

His last outing was in Marbella, where he lost in the first round.

Djere v Lehecka Prediction and Tip

Djere has not been in good form this season, but, back on his favourite surface, he should have the edge over a man still finding his way on the senior ATP tour.

Tip: Djere to win: 5/9 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
