Laura Pigossi is best known in the world of tennis for securing a Bronze Medal at last year’s Olympics with her compatriot Stefani. The duo came out of nowhere to defeat Kudermetova and Vesnina in the match to secure the historic medals for their countries.
The 27-year old generally found more success in the doubles but that mostly came on the ITF tour. She did not play a lot of Tour-level matches whether in singles or doubles. Generally, her preferred surface is clay and that’s where she plays her best tennis which is no surprise considering she came through the qualifiers here.
Overall her game is a typical clay game. A mixture of everything but generally more towards the aggressive side. Consistency is an issue and her lack of experience against the best in the world is something to keep in mind. Her mental toughness is a plus though as she proved it a couple of times last year and this year.

Steady Rise for Tan
Harmony Tan has been on the Tour for a while but the French player never found much success until very recently. Her good play in recent months allowed her to make her top 100 debut and rise to a career-high ranking of 90 on today’s rankings.
She’s an interesting player capable of playing on all surfaces but her most recent successes have come on hard courts. She can play well on clay courts as well as her earlier successes happened on that surface. Overall she’s progressing slowly but surely and an 8-7 recorded is pretty solid for her, especially for an increased number of WTA-tour level matches this year.
She loves playing in Bogota as she reached the semifinal last year and she should be happy to be back. The surface gives her an edge and he familiarity with the event should do her well this year as well.
Pigossi v Tan Prediction and Tip
They never played before but there is very little doubt as to who the better player is. Harmony Tan has been having a very solid year and she’s been progressing slowly for a while now. The French player is the clear favourite and anything but her victory would be a major surprise to me.
Pigossi has played some matches already and she’s familiar with the conditions but Tna played in the semifinals last year and I doubt she will need a long time to get used to it again.
