Renata Zarazua has had better days in tennis as the Mexican tennis player is still reaching for her first win this year. She has an 0-6 record on the year and that’s something she will desperately look to change. It’s been a disappointing year for her as 2022 was supposed to be a year where she builds upon some solid outings last year.
Clay has generally been a good surface for her and the Bogota clay generally prefers players that enjoy playing on very slow surfaces. Zarazua plays attacking and that’s also a plus for her. Last year she had a 3-6 record on clay but the year before that she was 45-9.
That year she also reached the 3rd round here so maybe she can do something similar again. It won’t be easy against Bjorklund.

2022 Might Be The Year For Bjorklund
Mirjam Bjorklund is most famous in the tennis community as the girlfriend of Denis Shapovalov. The pair is very open about their relationships sharing many photos of each other but besides that, she is also a pretty solid tennis player from Sweden. She’s yet to find her big break but 2022 might be the year to do it.
She does not play much but she does it’s pretty solid. She has a 5-5 record on the year but with clay becoming the dominant surface on the tour in the next couple of months she might be slated for a breakthrough. Her clay game is pretty strong and generally, she has done really well on the surface.
She never played in Bogota but that’s an opportunity to catch players off guard. Not many have seen her play up close and that could suit her well.
Zarazua v Bjorklund Prediction and Tip
So these players never played before and while Zarazua is generally the stronger clay player her level this year has been very poor. To be completely fair she played against some strong opposition and these players are generally stronger than those against whom Bjorklund played.
That being said I just don’t feel very comfortable backing a player that has not won a single match this year. Sure, that streak will eventually end but I don’t think it’s today. The Swedish player has won matches this year and played pretty okay in Miami last week.
If she can keep that up she will be the favourite in my eyes. A long match can be expected and perhaps an over on games could be another option. Thread carefully either way.
