Amanda Anisimova v Sachia Vickery Head to Head

Since winning the singles title at the Melbourne Summer Set in January, 20-year-old Amanda Anisimova has struggled to perform in the same vein on the tour.
While she did reach the fourth round in the Australian Open after upsetting Naomi Osaka and Belinda Bencic, the young American hasn’t quite managed to keep this consistency going in the subsequent tournaments.
In Middle East swing, she fell early to the likes of Jelena Ostapenko (Doha, round two) and Madison Brengle (Dubai, round one). It was a similar story for the current World No. 47 in Indian Wells and Miami too; she succumbed to Leylah Fernandez and Shelby Rogers in the opening stages.
Anisimova is on shaky grounds but perhaps, the switch to clay will help her case. She has a singles title on this surface from Copa Colsanitas 2019 and a semifinal result at the French Open from the same season.

Vickery, Competing Mainly on ITF Circuit
Sachia Vickery, currently ranking in the mid 200s, has spent the bulk of the 2022 season on the ITF circuit.
The 26-year-old has delivered mixed results; a semifinal feat in Traralgon and a runner-up trophy in Santo Domingo. Her last couple of events have come on the same circuit but the results weren’t this impressive. Vickery fell in the opening rounds in Santo Domingo 2 and Canberra 3.
In fact, she has played in only one WTA event this season – the Australian Open where she fell in the opening qualifying match to Lizette Cabrera.
On the whole, Vickery is trailing far behind when it comes to big WTA wins and trophies.
Anisimova v Vickery Prediction and Tip
Vickery may have the advantage of being the more experienced player here but Anisimova leads in terms of overall form and momentum. The youngster will start as the favourite but may have to work hard to earn this win. Ordinarily, a straight-set win should be in the offing but given Anisimova’s rocky form, she may be pushed to three sets.
