Aryna Sabalenka v Alison Riske Head to Head
There have been three previous main draw matches between these two players at the highest level to go with one qualifying round in Rome in 2018 and Sabalenka has won every single time.
Interestingly, two of these matches came in the final of competitions, both in 2019 and in China.

It’s not been the kind of start that Sabalenka would have hoped for after touching a world ranking of number two on the WTA charts.
After getting knocked out in the openers at both, Adelaide 1 and Adelaide 2 competitions, Sabalenka did get to the fourth round at Australian Open but even there, she fell to Kaia Kanepi.
A second round defeat in Dubai followed soon after that before she was sent packing by Iga Swiatek in the quarterfinal round at the WTA Doha.
And if that wasn’t enough, Sabalenka was ousted from her openers at both, the Indian Wells Open and Miami Open. Defeats to Jasmine Paolini and Irina Camelia Begu in those respective tournaments would not just have hurt but made her question what exactly is going wrong?

Riske Solid in Recent Times
While Riske, like her opponent here, was ousted in the first round of the first tournament she featured this season, she has followed that up with some solid performances.
A finals appearance in Adelaide followed soon after and even more recently, in Indian Wells and Miami, Riske managed to make it to the third and fourth round respectively.
And she started things off in Charleston with an easy win over Caty McNally, registering 7-5, 6-3 victory over her 20-year-old American opponent.
In a match lasting an hour and 40 minutes, Riske struggled with her serve and was broken twice but retaliated with five breaks of serves of her own. Can she now use that momentum and turn around her head to head record against Sabalenka?
