Andrey Rublev v Jannik Sinner Head to Head

It’s 1-1 between the two players; Sinner won their last encounter on the clay court in ATP Barcelona last May in straight sets.

Rublev Starts Well

Andrey Rublev kickstarted his clay swing with a three-set win over Alex de Minaur in the opener in Monte-Carlo. The fifth seed lost the first set but eventually took the match 2-6, 6-1, 6-4.

This result is also a good comeback from his shock exit at the hands of Nick Kyrgios in the Miami Open second round. On the whole, the 24-year-old has been quite impressive this season; he won the title in Dubai and Marseille and also was in the final four in Rotterdam and Indian Wells.

Currently ranked World No. 8, Rublev is looking to emulate his run from last season in this Monaco quarter. He reached the final – defeating the likes of Rafael Nadal, Casper Ruud, and Roberto Bautista Agut. While he ultimately lost to Stefanos Tsitsipas, Rublev has since moved on to reach five more ATP finals on the tour.

Sinner Breezes Past Ruusuvuori

Jannik Sinner continued his journey in Monte-Carlo – this time with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Finland’s Emil Ruusuvuori. It was also a much better performance from the Italian, who fought to three sets in the opener with Borna Coric.

The 20-year-old may not have the most phenomenal of the seasons but he is still an impressive 18-3 as of Thursday. Most recently, Sinner played in the quarterfinal in the Miami Masters and had a similar streak in the Australian Open too.

Although Sinner hasn’t really won a title on clay courts, he can be impressive. The current world number 12 has already added several big wins to his resume and as he continues to gain experience, he will only grow further.

Rublev v Sinner Prediction and Tip

Rublev will start as the odds-on favourite but Sinner can turn them around quickly – especially considering how their last meeting went. Plus, he was put to test by de Minaur and Sinner is still in a comparatively better form.

A safe bet would be on this being a long match while backing Sinner can also pay good returns.
