Jannik Sinner v Alexander Zverev Head to Head

Zverev holds a 2-1 lead over the Italian, last beating him in the 2021 US Open. However, Sinner won their sole meeting on clay in the previous year’s French Open.

Sinner Stuns Rublev

Jannik Sinner has been in great form this week as he looks to cap it off with his first Masters title. The number nine seed has defeated a handful of impressive players like Bora Coric, Emil Ruusuvuori, and most recently, Andrey Rublev.

The 20-year-old dismissed the Russian with 5-7, 6-1, 6-3. With this, the #12-ranked Sinner also finds himself in his second consecutive ATP 1000 quarterfinal. In the Miami Open, he retired against Francisco Cerundolo after trailing 1-4 in the first set.

He also enjoyed a similar run in the Australian Open and back then, he lost to Stefanos Tsitsipas. In fact, all of Sinner’s defeats this season have come at the hands of top 12 players.

Zverev Storms Past Busta

Alexander Zverev made quick work of Pablo Carreno Busta in round three as he took the match 6-2, 7-5.

The number two seed is on the prowl to reach his second singles final this season; the last one ended in a shock defeat to Alexander Bublik in ATP Montpellier. Since then, the German has fallen early in Indian Wells and Acapulco. He did manage to reach the quarters in Miami but couldn’t surpass Casper Ruud in three sets.

Even then, Zverev cannot be underestimated. Currently ranked World No. 3, he has been a consistent part of the top five on the tour and is quite comfortable on clay.

Zverev v Sinner Prediction and Tip

While Zverev is yet to lose a set in Monte Carlo this year, that may change when he faces Sinner. The youngster has the potential to be a dark horse and Zverev will need to watch out.

That said, he has a much better track record in this part of the season – Zverev is a two-time Madrid Open champion and has reached as many finals in the Rome Masters too. He will clearly start as the odds-on favourite but chances of Sinner winning this one aren’t as bad as the bookmakers make it to be.
