Arantxa Rus v Ipek Oz Head to Head

The pair have never played each other before. This will be the first match between the 31-year old Dutch woman, and the Turk, who is nine years younger.

Rus in Indifferent Form

Although she won the girls’ singles at the Australian Open in 2008, and went on to become the top ranked junior, Rus has not had the senior career that she would have liked, with most of her successes limited to doubles events.

She has appeared in five finals, three of them on clay, winning four of them, and forming in recent years a successful partnership with Tamara Zidansek of Slovenia.

However, when Kiki Bertens retired last year, she inherited her mantle of the Dutch number one.

Clay is her best surface – she appeared in four ITF finals last year on clay, winning three of them.

She has not been in her best form so far in 2022,  has never been beyond the second round of any event on the WTA tour, and lost in the first round in both Indian Wells and Miami.

Playing for the Netherlands against Spain in the Billie-Jean King Cup, she lost both her singles matches.

Oz Back on Home Soil

Oz is back in the event where she made her main tour debut four years ago, when she was granted a wildcard into both the singles and doubles.

In the intervening period, she has become best known for her exploits in ITF tournaments, where she has appeared in six finals in the past 15 months, all but one of them on clay, but was a runner-up each time.

However, she came through the qualifying competition to make the main draw in Bogota at the start of this month, beating another qualifier in the first round, before losing to the top seed and defending champion, Maria Camila Osorio Serrano.

More recently, she has been involved in Billie Jean King Cup action for Turkey, where she performed creditably, winning three out of her four singles matches.

Arantxa Rus v Ipek Oz Prediction and Tip

Rus may not be in the best of form, but she is back on clay, which is her preferred surface and has a wealth of experience on which to draw. Oz can draw comfort from playing in home conditions, but she should be out of her depth in this match.

Tip: Rus to win: 1/3 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
