Ons Jabeur v Paula Badosa Head to Head

It’s advantage Badosa with 2-1 although, not a whole lot can be read from this. They met twice last season and won a match each; however, this will be their first meeting on clay courts.

Jabeur on a Roll

World No. 10 Ons Jabeur is having quite an adventure on clay courts. After reaching the final in the Charleston Open earlier this month, she looks primed to repeat a similar run in Stuttgart.

Her victims so far include Marketa Vondrousova (4-6, 6-2, 6-3) and a resurgent Daria Kasatkina (6-3, 6-3).

Up until the clay swing, Jabeur had a rather muted spell on the tour this season – she reached consecutive quarterfinals in Sydney, Dubai, and Doha but couldn’t make much of them.

The number seven seed is a two-time Grand Slam quarterfinalist and also a two-time French Open Juniors finalist (win in 2011). She has also collected a good few trophies on clay ITF events, implying that she is more than confident to play on clay and can very well give Badosa a run for her money.

Badosa Survives Rybakina

Number two seed Paula Badosa had to fight hard against Elena Rybakina in her opening-round bout; she won the match 6-2, 4-6, 7-6(4) but that could have gone just as easily the other way.

Now ranked World No. 3, the 24-year-old Spaniard also had a good run in Charleston but she could make it as far as the quarters only. That said, it was her third consecutive one with the other two coming in Miami and Indian Wells.

Badosa also won the Sydney Tennis Classic earlier this year; on the back of some incredible consistency since then, she has paved her way into the top five. As for Badosa’s pedigree on clay, this is her favourite surface and last year, she lost only three matches on this turf (semifinal in Madrid, title in Belgrade, and elite-eight in the Paris Slam).

Badosa v Jabeur Prediction and Tip

This is going to be a great game of tennis – both players are well-suited for clay, have the experience, and are more than equipped to perform in high-octane matches. Calling a winner here is too difficult but we may very well see full three sets. On a safe note, the match can go over 20.5 games.
