The players have met three times with Carreno Busta leading the head-to-head 2-1. Their last meeting was here in the quarter-finals at Barcelona with the Spaniard winning in three tight sets.

Schwartzman Looking To Continue Positive Start To Clay

Argentine veteran Diego Schwartzman had a strong run on the LatAm clay earlier this year, making the semis at the Cordoba Open and being runner-up at both Buenos Aires and Rio.

Schwartzman began the European clay swing with a good run in Monte Carlo last week looking good for a win against Stefanos Tsitsipas up 4-0 in the decider but collapsing thereafter to lose six games in a row.

The Argentine started well here this week with straight set wins over Mackenzie McDonald and Lorenzo Musetti setting himself up for a quarter-final against Felix Auger-Aliassime.

The Canadian was off to a good start winning the first set 6-3, but it was all Schwartzman thereafter, breaking twice in the second set to equalize and send the match into the decider.

While the third set started on an even keel, Schwartzman pressured the Auger-Aliassime serve to break and serve out a spot in the semis.

Carreno Busta Comes Back From The Brink

It has not been the best of starts to the season for Spain’s Pablo Carreno Busta.

A mixed run Down Under was followed by an early loss at Indian Wells and a meltdown from multiple match points against Jannik Sinner at the Miami Open.

It was a round of 16 loss at Monte Carlo last week for the Spaniard, but has been a better outing this week here in Barcelona. And, it was a very taxing Friday for the Spaniard having to play back-to-back matches for his round of 16 and the quarter-finals.

Winning a three-setter against Italian Lorenzo Sonego, Carreno Busta was back on court soon thereafter against clay specialist Casper Ruud who has had a good run in recent times.

Ruud took the first set and was up match-point in the second before the Spaniard fought hard and managed to grind his way to the tie-break. A seesaw tiebreak followed with Carreno Busta taking the match to a decider winning 10-8 in the breaker.

With the momentum slipping away from the Norwegian, it was a spirited show by the Spaniard to break in the third and close the set 6-3 to mark a stunning comeback and a rewarding day for himself.

Schwartzman v Carreno Busta Prediction and Tip

Expect a good battle between two clay warhorses. While the match can be expected to be a grinding affair, it will come down to who can outlast the opponent better. Picking Schwartzman to inch through in a tight decider.

Tip: Schwartzman to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
