Dan Evans v Maxime Cressy Head to Head

They played two times before with Evans winning both matches. The most recent one came in Sydney this year with Evans winning 6-4 7-6(5).

Solid Tennis From Evans

Dan Evans is no fan of the clay however the British player is capable of playing pretty okay on the surface. He doesn’t shy away from it and he is able to create quite a bit of trouble for players who are not very strong on the surface. His season so far has been decent but without any major results.

The record is 10-9 with a couple of solid outings on the red dirt so far. He played four matches so far across three events and lost 3 of those matches. His only win came against Benjamin Bonzi in Monte-Carlo, a player who is not a fan of clay either.

The other matches have come against players who love clay so his losses are somewhat expected. In Munich, he will have a chance to get his 2nd clay win of the year against another player who is not keen on the surface.

Cressy the Serve and Volley Man

Maxime Cressy plays serve and volley, in 2022. No, you’re not dreaming and yes that’s a factually correct statement. For those nostalgic for the signature style of many years ago, he’s a proper delight to watch. Unfortunately, that won’t do him any good on clay as the playstyle is pretty tricky to pull off on the surface.

His 14-21 record on the surface is a proof of that. His 1-3 record this year is another proof of that but he will have to outlast this part of the season hoping that it will pass soon. In Munich, he is set to face Dan Evans who doesn’t like the surface either and generally doesn’t play well.

Unfortunately for Cressy, Evans like to run and is capable of some tremendous defence. That usually does not mesh well with serve and volley.

Evans v Cressy Prediction and Tip

So we have a matchup that we have seen twice before. One of those matches happened this year and it came on a surface that both prefer. It was a hard court match and it was a close win by Evans. Generally, Evans plays better on clay and he is more comfortable on the surface.

That’s not saying much as he is not very good on it. Cressy is not very good either but he can’t really compensate with much. His serve is basically taken out of the game almost completely and that’s hard to overcome. Serve and volley rarely works on the surface and Evans just plays too good defence.

I’ll keep it simple and recommend that you back Evans. He’s 2-0 for a reason.

Tip: Evans to win in straight sets: 10/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
