Holger Rune v Jiri Lehecka Head to Head
There has been no previous meeting between these two players at the highest level but they did face off on the Challenger circuit. Lehecka had won that match on indoor hard court surface in three sets.

Rune’s love for clay can be seen from the fact he has won seven of his nine lower-level titles on that surface. Which is also why his confidence coming into the Monte-Carlo Masters earlier this month would have been sky-high, following on from a tournament win at the San Remo Challenger.
The Danish player then qualified for the Monte Carlo Masters, defeated Aslan Karatsev and then went down to Casper Ruud in a fighting second round match.
And in the Belgrade Open that followed, Rune was a 6-3, 6-1 winner over Cristian Garin in the first round and would have expected to go one better when he took on Taro Daniel in the second.
Instead, Rune looked to have run out of steam as he was ousted in three sets by his Japanese opponent.
Starting out against Lehecka on clay, despite having lost their previous encounter, would give him some confidence but he will need to shrug off that Belgrade Open surprise quickly enough.

Lehecka Hoping to Double His Clay Win Count
All of 20 years of age, Lehecka is still looking to find his feet at the highest level but has moved swiftly to break into the top 100 on the ATP Rankings.
And while he hasn’t won a lot of matches on the ATP circuit, Lehecka has shown he can spring up a good performance or two as he looks to learn the ropes.
This season has been his first full one at the highest level and he holds a 4-6 win-loss record thanks to his semifinal appearance in Rotterdam. On clay, however, Lehecka is 1-4 for the year (also his career record) after having won his only match in Belgrade.
He enters this tournament on the back of a couple of qualifying wins and will hope to double his main draw victory count. Clay has his been his favourite surface at the lower level too – four of his five Challenger and Futures titles have come on it – but will that be enough to surprise Rune?

Rune holds the edge here and is 3/5 to make it to the second round against a player who has won just one main draw match on clay before this. We could still expect bit of a fight.
