Oscar Otte is seemingly a late bloomer with the German peaking in his tennis life fairly late. It started last year with a very strong outing in Wimbledon where he was taken down by Andy Murray. Since then Otte was able to play much better tennis overall allowing him a jump on the rankings.
With the jump, he started to get more opportunities to play on the tour and he took it. This year he’s been pretty good. A 10-12 record on the year is very good for a player who mostly played challenger events his entire career. His ranking is also improved dramatically as he is current 62nd.
In Belgrade he reached the quarterfinal taking down Alejandro Tabilo and Aslan Karatsev eventually losing to Fognini in the quarterfinals. He will look to build upon that on his native soil.

Topo, Another Serbian Talent
The popularity of tennis in Serbia erupted with Novak Djokovic becoming a very good tennis player. Since then many kids picked up the racquet and some of those talents are starting to emerge in professional tennis. Topo is another one as he looks to carve out a career for himself.
Not much is known about the 18-year old but to get into the main draw he had to play the qualifiers and he played them really good. Wins over Henri Laaksonen and Norbert Gombos are not ones to throw away and he looked very sharp.
Like the majority of Serbians, he grew up on clay and is very comfortable on the surface. The score in 2022 is 11-10 and that’s pretty solid for him.
Otte v Topo Prediction and Tip
Oscar Otte has found some form in Belgrade last week and he certainly wants to keep that going. There is no reason to doubt him and his aggressive playstyle either will see him string together another impressive run or crash and burn quickly.
Topo is somewhat of an unknown in the tennis world. He’s certainly a very good talent but he’s not faced much ATP talent in his career. Otte is a player who is capable of a rude awakening for him but only if he plays well. If the German has one of his bad days the Serbian could pull out the win.
I think Otte will win because I feel Topo has still a lot to learn. He had a good run but I don’t see him winning this against the German who is hyper-aggressive. The odd heavily favours Otte and there is very little value in playing him but for what it’s worth I think he will win.
