Paula Badosa v Aliaksandra Sasnovich Head to Head

They have never played before.

Badosa Better Suited for Rome

Paula Badosa played a decent event in Madrid but perhaps her game is a bit better suited for Rome. The courts in the Italian capital player much slower which allows Badosa to prepare better in unleashing her groundstrokes that are deadly. Madrid suits her as well but she can be quite vulnerable to other players attacking as well.

That was the trouble against Simona Halep who easily bested her in that matchup. It’s not been the best of tennis lately for Badosa but she is always capable of breaking out suddenly. She never played in Rome and she will be excited to do it this year.

The opponent is a tricky one that can give her a lot of trouble with her playstyle. Sasnovich won’t be afraid of the opportunity and there is a danger for Badosa in this matchup.

Strong Start for Sasnovich

Aliaksandra Sasnovich was the underdog in round one against Veronika Kudermetova and for a very long time in that match, she looked like the worse player. She dragged herself to the 2nd set tiebreak outplaying the Russian in it. Then she smashed her opponent in the final set with her super-solid play.

Sasnovich is such a tricky player to play simply because she is annoying to play against. She doesn’t make dumb decisions on the court, she won’t beat herself and she’s pretty solid overall. The key thing is that you need to outplay her to beat her and if you don’t you’ll lose.

Badosa is certainly capable of doing that but their only match came in 2015 as juniors at the US Open which Sasnovich won. Stylistically Sasnovich can wall Badosa really well and that will give her chances in this matchup.

Badosa v Sasnovich Prediction and Tip

So their only math acme in the junior which doesn’t count as an official match. Sasnovich won that match but since then both changed dramatically as it’s been 7 years. Both are solid on the clay but Badosa clearly has much more talent than her opponent.

However, the Spaniard also can complicate things a lot when faced with a solid opponent like Sasnovich. She will need to be composed and focused to outplay Sasnovich because that’s the only route to victory. Stylistically Badosa is in pretty good shape on the slow courts of Rome.

She will be given a chance to control the tempo of the rallies which should work in her favour. Obviously, if she plays a bad match she will be in trouble. She hasn’t been that solid lately and I think she will run into a bit of problem against Sasnovich.

I could see this finish in three sets but I think Badosa will get it done in the end. You need to risk to win in Rome and Badosa is clearly the bigger risk-taker of the two. Take Badosa in three.

Tip: Badosa to win in three sets: 4/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
