Andrey Rublev v Filip Krajinovic Head to Head

They are 2-2 from four meetings.

While Krajinovic won in Moscow in 2017 and in Rotterdam in 2020, Rublev won at the Davis Cup in 2019 and in Dubai in 2020.

Rublev In Decent Touch

World No. 7 Andrey Rublev brings a 25-7 season record to Rome. This will be be his third main draw appearance at the Italian Open and he would look to better his last year’s showing, when he made his quarterfinal debut at the tournament, only to fall to Lorenzo Sonego.

Seeded No. 6 in the tournament, the Russian has already won three titles this year, one of which came last month on clay in Belgrade after he defeated Novak Djokovic in the title clash.

The 24-year-old is 7-2 on clay this season and in his most recent performance, he finished as a quarterfinalist in Madrid. Rublev defeated two Britons in Jack Draper and Dan Evans in his first two rounds, but couldn’t find a way past Stefanos Tsitsipas.

An 11-time champion on the tour, Rublev won the titles in Marseille and Dubai in addition to the title in Belgrade this year. He is yet to win an ATP 1000 title. Can he win it in Italy?

Krajinovic Toughs It out Against Tiafoe

World no. 54 Filip Krajinovic needed two hours and nine minutes to edge past the United States’ Frances Tiafoe in the first round on Sunday.

While none of the players got broken in the first set, both broke once each in the second. But it was the Serbian, who better handled the nerves in both the tiebreaks to win the contest 7-6 (9-7), 7-6 (7-4) and advanced to the second round in Rome for the second time in his career. He had made it to the third round on his debut in 2020.

The win means Krajinovic is now 10-9 this season. He was a semifinalist in Montpellier earlier this year, but has been very inconsistent since then, struggling to win consecutive matches.

He has a decent record on clay, with a win record of 48% on the surface. He will be hoping to get another win in the tournament against an opponent he has beaten before, but given Rublev’s form, defeating him may be a tad difficult this time around.

Rublev v Krajinovic Prediction and Tip
