Jannik Sinner v Filip Krajinovic Head to Head

The pair have played each other once before, at the Sofia Open last year, Sinner winning in straight sets.

Krajinovic Upsets Sixth Seed

Krajinovic has now emulated his previous best performance in Rome, having been searching for his best form before entering the tournament.

He was given a tough-looking first round draw against the Estoril finalist, Frances Tiafoe, but managed to battle past the American world number 26 in two sets, both of which were decided by tie-breaks.

His second round opponent Andrey Rublev, the world number seven and sixth seed here, offered an even more formidable obstacle to his progress.

But he more than met the challenge, breaking his neutral flagged opponent in his opening two service games which enabled him to claim the first set for the loss of just two games.

Rublev dropped his serve once more early in the second set, and there proved to be no way back from him after that. He never seriously threatened the Krajinovic serve, and the Serb was able to close out the match comparatively untroubled.

Sinner Wins All-Italian Clash

Sinner, having enjoyed a comfortable victory over Pedro Martinez of Spain, the stage was set for the all-Italian clash against Fabio Fognini, a man 14 years older and ranked 43 places lower than him in the world.

Fittingly it was held on centre court in Rome.

Sinner began strongly, and for the first part of the match everything seemed to be going to plan as far as he was concerned. He claimed the first set after two breaks of serve, and had seemed largely untroubled on serve, until he was broken midway through the second set.

He immediately recovered the break, only to once more drop his serve, and soon the match was level once more.

Both had break point opportunities early in the third set, but it was Fognini who was the first to crack and drop his serve. He though, rallied to break back, but his recovery was fleeting, as he once more dropped his serve.

This time Sinner was not so kind to his fellow Italian, and he served out to love.

Sinner v Krajinovic Prediction and Tip

Sinner won their only previous meeting, although that was on a hard court. The Italian, though, will have home support and, with their backing, must be tipped to make the last eight.

Tip: Sinner to win: 7/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
