Paula Badosa v Daria Kasatkina Head to Head

They played once before and it happened this year in Sydney. Badosa won 6-2 6-2.

Return to Form for Badosa

Paula Badosa returned to form in Rome with a commanding win over Sasnovich who had no chance in this match. It was a very good development for Badosa who looked quite overwhelmed in Madrid with all pressure. She also had some physical issues but in Rome, she looked great.

Up next for her is Kasatkina who is a very good clay player as well. The Russian loves it in Rome but she is vulebreable. Badosa attacked Sasnovich early in rallies and she can do the same to Kasatkina. That’s how she bested her in Sydney earlier in the year.

For Badosa, slow courts are really perfect. She has time to position herself and then attack. On faster courts, her serve allows her that but if she doesn’t have she can run into trouble. Against Kasatkina she will have time and she will look for win number 23 on the season.

Kasatkina Barely Into Round 3

Daria Kasatkina nearly went out in round two against Leylah Fernandez as the Canadian player was up a break in the final set. She fumbled the lead and Kasatkina was able to emerge victorious in a match where she had a lot of issues. The Russian is a very good clay player but she is also very vulnerable.

Her serve is not the best and when faced with an attacking player, she oftentimes runs into trouble. Fernandez bailed her out today with some timely errors but it’s going to be a different game against Badosa. The Spaniard will attack and Kasatkina will have to defend well.

Overall she’s having a very good year with a 16-9 score and a 5-2 clay score. She is great on clay especially when she can be the aggressor. Sadly for her, that won’t be the case against Badosa.

Badosa v Kasatkina Prediction and Tip

So they played earlier this year and Badosa smacked Kasatkina 6-2 6-2. It was a one-sided match where Kasatkina simply could not defend against the aggression of Badosa. Her serve also got attacked easily by the Spaniard who rarely lets up the pressure.

Something similar might happen in Rome as well because Fernandez was able to do that. If she can do that, so can Badosa and that will be the plan. Kasatkina does not play well when attacked so Badosa will try to do that early and often. The heavy courts of Rome will give her time and unless she produces a shocking display, she should cruise.
