Another Home Return For Pouille

After an injury-ravaged couple of years that stalled Lucas Pouille’s progress, the Frenchman continues to work his way into the upper echelons of the men’s tennis.

Pouille has been dealt a series of hard luck since his return to action with a spate of niggling injuries hampering his participation to forge a consistent run of playing time.

The 28-year-old has played just 18 matches since the turn of the year, limiting his time to a host of appearances in the home tournaments across the ATP Tour and Challengers. He has won seven matches so far and is set to play in his seventh tournament of the season on home soil.

While Pouille hasn’t made great strides as far as results are concerned, there have been a few notable exceptions such as the win over Karen Khachanov at last week’s Madrid Masters. A three-set defeat to Andrey Rublev earlier this year in Marseille also springs to mind.

For as much as Pouille loiters outside the Top 100, chances of making an impact at tour level remain slim. So he has to make some serious inroads at the Lyon Open and the upcoming French Open.

Otte Looks To Excel Again On Clay

Oscar Otte has enjoyed the feel-good factor in the past month. The 28-year-old German broke the ATP Top 100 at the start of the year and has steadfastly continued his rise in the rankings.

Currently sitting at No. 57 in the world, Otte has achieved a few more significant milestones since joining the centurion club. He reached his first tour-level semifinal at home in Munich at the end of April where he would register the biggest win of his career by ranking when he upset World No. 17 Reilly Opelka.

Otte, who hasn’t lost before the quarterfinals at his last two tournaments, is playing with unshakeable confidence right now. But he hasn’t played since making the last four at home turf in Munich where he fell to eventual champion Holger Rune.

Having compiled a 9-9 record for the season, Otte will be aiming to excel again on his return to action for the first time in two weeks. Can he live up to the billing as an overwhelming favorite on Monday?

Pouille v Otte Prediction and Tip

It is not a great surprise that Otte is heavily favored to come out on top in this matchup. After all, he has put together a much more consistent run in recent weeks. But he will play a motivated Pouille who will be keen to impress on home soil.

Tip: Pouille to win a set: 8/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
