Slow Improvements From Kwon

Sonwoo Kwon has made steady improvements in the past few years and right now he is firmly inside the top 100 and skill-wise he serves to be there. It’s not yet clear how far he can go but there is some potential for improvement there. This year has been solid so far with a 13-14 record.

He generally plays better on the faster surfaces but he is pretty solid on clay. It’s not too terrible as his 4-5 record suggests. He is very competitive and always gives his best. The serve is key for him as it allows him to shorten the points.

From the baseline he is solid and he moves well so all of that plays into his clay level being quite solid. He’s been okay lately with some solid wins in Madrid and Estoril. In Rome, it was an early exit to Sebastian Baez, but the Argentine is the far better clay player.

Return For Bedene

Aljaz Bedene only recently returned to tennis after an injury and as you can imagine it has been a struggle. He only played Belgrad since his return and he won one match losing the other to Fabio Fognini. Bedene has never been the best player on clay because the Slovenian loves fast courts.

His main weapon is his serve and when it’s not working he’s in trouble. He’s been good grass, decent on hard courts but on clay not so much except for a few years earlier in his career. It’s hard to see what kind of Bedene will show up as he clearly lacks matches.

Keep on reading to find out if Bedene can take out a very solid player in Kwon.

Kwon v Bedene Prediction and Tip

So for me, this is an easy match to call. Bedene played only two matches this year and they are both a few weeks removed. I just don’t see him being anything but rusty in this match and the ever-solid Kwon should have no issues in this matchup.

He is younger, in better shape and showed a higher level lately. Take Kwon to win this in straight sets and don’t look back. There is just so much lacking with Bedene at the moment.

Tip: Kwon to win in straight sets: 10/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
