Michael Mmoh v Manuel Guinard Head to Head

The pair have never played each other before. This will be the first match between the 26 year old American, and the 24 year old Frenchman.

Mmoh Gets Lucky Twice

This is the first time that Mmoh, who spends the majority of his time on the Challenger tour, has made the main draw of a senior ATP event this year.

It also is the first time he has played a competitive tournament outside the USA in 2022.

However, the fact he is in the second round at all is down to two slices of luck.

He was actually beaten in straight sets in the qualifying tournament by the Argentine Tomas Martin Etcherverry, but then earned a reprieve as a lucky loser.

And then his slated first round opponent had to retire with injury, so he progressed straight through to the second round.

Qualifier Guinard Upsets Compatriot Gaston

Guinard is another man more regularly found on the Challenger tour, but at least he made the first round in Barcelona after qualifying, the same route he took to make the main draw in Lyon.

On Tuesday he met compatriot Hugo Gaston, the world number 68, who had been given a wildcard into this event, and pulled off a minor upset by beating him in three sets.

Gaston was the first to drop his serve but, with Guinard serving for the first set, he was broken in turn, However, Gaston was only level briefly, because Guinard broke him again next game to claim the first set.

It was the qualifier who was the first to drop his serve in the second set, but soon found himself a break up and seemingly on course for victory. Gaston though had other ideas, hit back and he had the chance to serve for the set himself.

He could not take it, but did go on to claim the subsequent tie-break.

However, Guinard composed himself again, broke Gaston midway through the third set, and then broke once more, giving him the chance to serve out.

Mmohv Guinard Prediction and Tip

Both find themselves in unfamiliar territory in the second round, but Mmoh has enjoyed more than his share of luck so far, and sometime, by the law of averages, that has to run out.

Tip: Guinard to win: 9/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
