Claire Liu v Mayar Sherif Head to Head
Liu leads 1-0, last defeating Sherif in the 2021 WTA Charleston last year in straight sets.

Number four seed Mayar Sherif arrived in Morocco on the back of some superb tennis that propelled her to the career-best ranking of World No. 50.
She played in the Karlsruhe Challenger last week where she won the singles and doubles title; in April, the Egyptian also won the Marbella Challenger by dismissing Tamara Korpatsch in the final.
On the WTA Tour, however, at least until now, Sherif had failed to move past the second round in every single tournament. In the Sunshine Doubles, she lost in the opening rounds while in Madrid, she fell in the first qualifying match.
But here in Rabat, she is off to a great start as she overcame Chloe Paquet 6-0, 6-2 to build some momentum.
Sherif can certainly play on clay, as evident from her numerous ITF titles on the surface and her maiden WTA singles and doubles finals which she picked up in Romania last August.

Liu Moves Past Rakhimova
Claire Liu is also off to a good start in the competition, having beaten Kamilla Rakhimova 6-4, 6-3.
Like Sherif, the 21-year-old also won a Challenger event just last week – this one in Paris where she knocked out the likes of Varvara Gracheva, Kaia Kanepi, and Beatriz Haddad Maia en route to her maiden WTA 125 trophy.
While she may not have as many such titles as the Egyptian, Liu does make up for it with a superior track record on the WTA Tour.
Earlier in the season, the American made it to the third round in Charleston after dismissing Shuai Zhang and Heather Watson. She also reached the second round in the Indian Wells Open.
Liu v Sherif Prediction and Tip
Sherif has the experience, form, and rhythm to win this one. Liu can possibly trouble her opponent but it may be quite difficult for her to go the distance in this match.
However, the American does have a small chance and a lot will depend on how she starts the match.
