Anna Bondar v Kristina Kucova Head to Head
It’s 1-0 to Kucova who last beat Bondar in a low-tier event in Braunschweig in 2018 in three sets.

31-year-old Kristina Kucova hasn’t really had the best of the runs on the WTA Tour this season. As of today, she is 6-11 and ranked World No. 87 – which, in all fairness, isn’t that far from her career-best place of #71.
In Rome and Madrid, she lost in the qualifying rounds while in the preceding events of the Miami Open and Indian Wells Open, she couldn’t quite make it past the opening matches.
It has been the case for the Slovak for most of the season as she struggles with form woes and mediocrity.
Here in Rabat, she did start well with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Catherine Harrison in the first round. One more win and Kucova would have reached her maiden quarterfinal since the Cluj-Napoca Open last season.

Bondar Survives Ferrando Scare
Number five seed Anna Bondar found herself in quite a pickle when she took on the Italian qualifier Cristiana Ferrando in the first round. The Hungarian had to fight for three sets and a little under three hours to win the match 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.
The fact that she was pushed to the limit by a player ranked in the mid 200s certainly bodes well for Kucova. As for Bondar, she will need to up her game to survive this upcoming encounter.
That said, the 24-year-old is at the peak of her form; she is World No. 67 (a career-best for her) and most recently reached the semis in the Karlsruhe Challenger. She has also had a relatively better run on the WTA Tour as she was a quarterfinalist in Istanbul and Lyon, and had a second-round appearance in Melbourne Set 1.
Bondar v Kucova Prediction and Tip
Bondar is the odds-on favourite for this match, seeing that she has been in a much better form this season and has some momentum under her belt.
That said, Kucova is experienced and determined to make amends for her harrowing run so far. This will be an interesting match, one that can possibly be a long one before we see a winner.
