Stan Wawrinka v Corentin Moutet Head to Head
Wawrinka and Moutet have clashed just once before this, and it was the Frenchman who scored a shock win over the former World No. 3 at the Qatar Open in 2020.

Stan Wawrinka is unquestionably one of the best clay-court players of his generation. He has a rich resume to back up that narrative, having won the French Open in 2015 with a scintillating four-set win over Djokovic whilst also reaching a second final in Paris in 2017.
Since 2010, Wawrinka has made the second week of the clay slam each time except on three occasions. But the Frenchman sat out last year’s French Open due to a career-threatening knee injury.
Wawrinka only returned to action at the end of March this season after undergoing multiple knee surgeries and spending more than a year in the treatment room.
The Swiss one-hander’s return has been extremely positive, as his conditioning continues to improve with each tournament. His most productive week by far was in Rome where he made the third round before bowing out at the hands of Novak Djokovic.

Moutet’s Wild Card A Head Scratcher
Corentin Moutet has earned a wild card to this year’s French Open but was it really deserved? For a player currently hovering outside the Top 100 and without a tour-level win since the Australian Open, it is hard to fathom how he managed to receive one in the first place.
Moutet’s career has clearly been on a tailspin. He started the year terrifically in Adelaide where he made the semifinals as a qualifier. But he has not been at the races in recent months.
For a player who has ranked as high as No. 67 in the world not long ago, and headlining ATP finals, this is a major crisis that the Frenchman has on his hands. So could a return to French Open rekindle his season?
His record at the French Open is 3-4, and his best result is a third-round showing at the 2019 edition. He hasn’t played in nearly three weeks, with his last outing coming at the Aix en Provence Challenger at the start of May.
Wawrinka v Moutet Prediction and Tip
With confirmed reports that Wawrinka has canceled a couple of his practice sessions prior to the tournament, it looks likely that the grind is having a toll on his knees. Moutet has done nothing spectacular to suggest he could spring the upset, but at 11/10, the odds look extremely enticing given the circumstances.
