Tabilo Reaches Career High Singles’ Ranking

This will be the first time that Tabilo has made the main draw in Paris, and he has been spared the rigours of qualifying by just reaching a career high ranking.

That has been predicated upon his recent form on clay – he reached his first senior final in Cordoba in February, losing to the Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas in three sets.

And the following month he was runner-up in a Challenger tournament on home soil in Santiago.

In Munich, where he came through the qualifying competition, he made the quarter-final round, a run that saw him beat the Chile number one in the first round, Cristian Garin.

He has not played since failing to qualify for Madrid.

Grand Slam Debut for  Croat Gojo

Gojo reached his own career high ranking last September, although he has drifted slightly since then.

In February, he reached his first Challenger final, losing to the Taiwanese player Tseng Chun-hsin on hard courts in Bengaluru.

The Croat tried throughout last year to qualify for a Grand Slam event, but was never able to manage it.

However, he has achieved it this time with three victories in the qualifying competition, first of all coming from behind to beat Gianluca Mager of Italy, a man ranked more than 100 places higher than him in the first round.

And then he turned his attention to Argentine opposition, defeating first Facundo Mena, and then the experienced Juan-Ignacio Londero, both in straight sets, to earn his shot against Tabilo.

Tabilo v Gojo Prediction and Tip

Getting to the main draw in itself is an achievement for the Croat, but Tabilo will have more ambitious goals in mind, and must be tipped to progress.
