Tallon Griekspoor v Aljaz Bedene Head to Head

This will be their first meeting.

Griekspoor on Home Soil

Dutch players don’t get many chances to play on their native soil and anytime they do, it’s usually a fairly good showing from them. Griekspoor played extremely well in Rotterdam earlier on the year and he might do the same here.

It’s been a mixed first season on the ATP tour for the challenger superstar. He’s 10-11 with some solid wins and some bad losses but all of that is enough to nearly push him inside the top 50. A strong outing here might just do the trick. He’s played some strong tennis in Paris beating Alejandro Davidovich Fokina at Roland Garros!

That’s a fine win for him but now on grass things will be a bit different. He’s been decent on the grass in the past and playing at home should inspire him to give it his all. Playing a player who will retire in a few months might be just enough to get him to round two.

Bedene’s Last Dance

This will be the final season for Aljaz Bedene who will retire at home in Slovenia during their Davis Cup rubber in a few months. It’s been a decent career for him with some good wins and some spectacular matches. He is playing solid tennis at the moment but it’s not thing special.

His serve is still good enough and he can hit some great winners thanks to playing without any pressure. Any match is a luxury and it’s a farewell tour for him. He won two matches in Paris against solid opposition and bowed out against Djokovic in a respectable showing.

While retiring at the season, he still can play well if you give him a chance. Beating Griekspoor will certainly motivate him and this might be a close match. He’s always been a fairly solid grass player but he did not have many luck with the draws at Wimbledon.

Griekspoor v Bedene Prediction and Tip

In this matchup, I could see either playing winning. It’s fairly close but Griekspoor should be quite a bit more motivated than his opponent. He’s playing at home, he’s good on grass and this is a chance for a deep run if some things go his way.

For Bedene it’s just another match en route to the inevitable retirement in a few months. I can’t see him crushing himself to win a match, especially against a player who should have more motivation. Both played well in Paris but I’ll trust the Dutch player to get it done at home.

Tip: Griekspoor to win in straight sets: 10/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
