Alex de Minaur v Adrian Mannarino Head to Head

Their only previous meeting came at the 2019 Zhuhai Open final which de Minaur won in straight sets to lift his third career title. It was also his third tournament win of the season.

De Minaur Hoping to Shrug Off French Open Loss

In the lead-up to the French Open this year, de Minaur had got himself some of his career best results on clay.

A 9-6 win-loss record on clay including a semifinal appearance at the Barcelona Open looked to be par for the course for the Aussie heading into the season’s second Grand Slam. For a player who had never made it past the second round at French Open, this looked like a golden opportunity to do better.

Instead, de Minaur crashed to a five-set defeat at the hands of Hugo Gaston in front of a partisan Paris crowd.

It will now be down to de Minaur to try and change things around on grass where he has a 12-9 win-loss record having made it to the quarterfinal of this tournament when it was played last in 2019.

Mannarino Staves off Seppi Challenge

It’s been a season of two halves for Mannarino, who had a strong run during the hard court swing earlier this year till he reached the Delray Beach Open quarterfinals. And following that his performances have crashed and how.

Over the next 11 matches including one at the Challenger circuit, Mannarino had won just one and lost all of the remaining ones. Which should have meant that coming into this opening round encounter against Andreas Seppi, he might have been a second favourite had it not been for the even more woeful Seppi form.

Mannarino took his time to get settled in and was still taken to the distance – despite it being a straight-set win, the Frenchman needed two tie-breakers and 20 points in the second to clinch the victory.

A 7-6 (4), 7-6 (9) win over Seppi will give Mannarino some hope for the rest of the season but against a player of the capability of de Minaur, it might not be enough. Can Mannarino at least put up a fight here?

de Minaur v Mannarino Prediction and Tip

De Minaur is 3/10 to win this and we will have to back a straight-set victory for the Aussie against a struggling Mannarino.

Tip: De Minaur to win in straight sets: 8/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
